Thanks to generous support from Whitchurch Town Council and the former Whitchurch Business Group we have been able to subsidise many of the walks. The 3 Canal Boat Walks are £8 each (£5 for children), Hawkstone £10 (£7 for children) and Oteley [sponsored by Pellitec Blister Prevention] £5 (£2 for children) Other walks £3 for day walks and £2 half day. Sa D1 Canal Boat 1: Lyneal Wharf, Ellesmere, Sprout Wood to Welshampton Andy Fitton 6 miles, 7h £8 (£5 child) |
We
take the 08.20 Minibus to Lyneal Wharf. At 09.00 our narrowboat sets
off and drops walkers off after Ellesmere tunnel. We start
walking from the canal over Sandy Lane to The Mere at Ellesmere.
Afterwards, we continue with a scenic walk via Spout Wood to
Welshampton Parish Hall. There is a kitchen and toilet on the boat.
We will catch the minibus back to Whitchurch. A packed lunch and drink will be required. Register at 08:05am. ![]() |

Explore Fenn's,
Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses by walking across the mysterious
mosses from Wales to England, returning by canal boat and minibus. We catch the 09.43 service bus 146 to Bronington from bus station [byTesco]. From there we walk via Bronington Church and Fenn's Whixall Moss to the disabled mooring point near the Prees Canal junction.We board the canal boat, and are dropped off at Hampton Bank around 16.00 from where we catch the minibus back to Whitchurch. There is a kitchen and toilet on the boat. Please bring packed lunch and drink with you. Only Shropshire or Welsh bus passes accepted on this service into Wales. |

with good views and goes along the edge of attractive Ossmere [right] on the

SaD6 Whixall Marina Circular Tony and Sheila Eccleston 4 miles 4h £3 |
This walk starts from the Marina and follows the Prees Branch Canal nature reserve to
Waterloo. It then crosses undulating fields onto a quiet lanes finally joining a farm track back to
Dobsons Bridge. It is then a short walk back to the Marina where we can enjoy the facilities
of the wonderful Marina Cafe whilst awaiting our return bus.

10.20 | Canal Boat 3: Bettisfield to Whixall Marina Malcolm Monie 5 miles / 5½h £8 (£5 child) | We
take the minibus at 10.20 to the car park by the Ellesmere tunnel. At
around 11.00 the narrowboat will pick us up by the entrance to the
tunnel and
takes us to Bettisfield. From Cornhill Bridge,
we will explore Bettisfield Moss and the Prees Branch Canal. These are
both nature reserves with a wealth of wild flowers, butterflies and
other wildlife.] Finally we will reach Whixall Marina cafe.

local walk taking in undulating farmland, canal and woodland. At this
time of year there should be a good variety of wild flowers and
tranquil views. Dogs are welcome on a lead but there are

Wood. No stiles. This route is named after Les Stockton who did so much

Come along to the Brownlow Centre where Jigsmith will be playing and calling the Cellidh. Doors open at 19.00.
