Whitegate Way

The Whitegate Way is a traffic-free route from Winsford to Cuddington, near Delamere Forest Park. The Whitegate railway line carried salt for almost 100 years, from the mines along the west bank of the River Weaver up to Cuddington.  Shady wooded cuttings contrast with sunny open embankments, offering spectacular views over the patchwork fields towards the Peckforton Hills.
This walk along the Whitegate Way takes in woods and fields, with no major hills or stiles. Approx. 5.5 miles. Meet at Sherry Mill Hill car park to car share at the earlier time of 12.15. [43 miles return trip - £8-60 shared per car].
The walk leaves from the Whitegate Station toilets at 13.00.
